There are altogether fourteen academic departments

(nine for arts specializations and four for science specializations) at YUDE.

BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAMME IN ART (B.A)

Objectives : To provide opportunities for art education to working persons, people living in rural and remote areas and belonging to backward sections of society and to create a scientific attituded to life.

ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS OF ART

Department of Myanmar

  • To produce highly qualified person in Myanmar Language and Literature.
  • These trained personnel are to serve in educational, administration section and social sectors of the country.

Department of English

  • To upgrade the English language skills of the students.
  • To produce graduates who are proficient in English.

Department of Geography

  • To produce highly qualified intellectuals fully invested with Geographical knowledge in various fields and aspects of Geography.
  • These educated personal are to serve the country in all works of occupational activities in accordance with the changing face of the environment and the needs

Department of History

  • To have knowledge about the past and present of Myanmar history as well as the world.
  • To be in touch with the current international affairs.
  • To have Union spird and to love, cherish and have value on its Country, Religion and Culture.

Department of Philosophy

Definition of the logo
  • To be able to think logically and develop the spiritual and intellectual life.
  • To cultivate the students to be successful both in social and ethical life.
  • To be a patriotic, good and able citizen of the country.

Department of Psychology

  • Background design refers to the University of Distance Education.
  • Foreground design:
  • (a) Yellow concentric circles refers to "concentration."
    (b) Greek alphabet Y (psi) refers to "psychology."
  • To promote the understanding and application of the principles of psychology, thus enabling students of psychology to become a valuable resource in nation building.

Department of Law

  • To produce judges, Lawyers, researchers of high moral characters, who would serve for the interest of the State.
  • Members of the legal Profession must help the Court to bring out truth and justice in accordance with law.

Department of Economics

  • To produce highly qualified economists, researchers and social scientists in the various disciplines of Economics.
  • These trained personnel are to serve in educational, industry, health, social and economic sectors of the country..

Department of Oriental Studies

  • To know Pali is a language of Indo-European Family.
  • To know Pali is the basis of Myanmar language.
  • To know Pali is the media of writing in Myanmar.
  • To know the contribution of Pali to the growth of Myanmar as a national language.
  • To know Pali is the most important in the field of Myanmar Culture.

BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAMME IN SCIENCE (B.Sc.)

Department of Chemistry

Academic Requirements
  • To become a UDE B.Sc.(Chem) graduate, one must pass the matriculation examination.
  • Any outstanding qualified student of UDE B.Sc. graduate can pursue higher studies at other universities.
  • Can crossover to a degree college or university if it meets that college or university requirements.
Weekend Lectures and Practicals

Students specializing in Chemistry subjects are required to attend lectures and take part in science practical sessions carried out on Saturdays and Sundays.

Department of Physics

  • Any outstanding qualified student of UDE B.Sc. graduate can pursue higher studies at other universities.
  • Can crossover to a degree college or university if it meets that college or university requirements.

Students specializing in Physics subjects are required to attend lectures and take part in science practical sessions carried out on Saturdays and Sundays.

Department of Mathematics

Department of Zoology
