Vision
By studying and teaching the subject of History, one can note the ups and downs of the changing process of one’s own country. One will become aware of the situation that he most work for his people and his country.Mission
From learning the subject of history, it is important to be able to organize and evaluate information in a compact and firm way. Students who will learn the subject of history will be able to learn the information related to history. In this way the subject of history can be handed over to the future generation.History tells us who we are, where we come from, and how we got here. It teaches us not only about our own place and time but also about other societies, cultures, countries, and peoples around the globe. By illuminating the past, the study of history informs how we respond to the present and how we think about the future.
Understanding the past lies at the core of what it means to be informed, engaged citizens of our communities, our nations, and the world.
History is being taught and learnt
– To make the current events harmonious with the present social life of us Myanmar.
– To be abler to serve in the sectors of education, economy, and social relation by, based on history, extending the range of study on its branch subjects – Archaeology, International Relation, and Political Science.
Degree to be Awarded
Students, having successfully completed 4 – year course of learning the subject, will be awarded B.A (majoring in History) degree.HISTORY DEPARTMENT

At present, there are about 160 students who are specializing in History. They try to their best to get high qualification and high knowledge. The teaching staff are engaged in research programmes in various aspects of Myanmar and World History.

COURSES WE OFFER
– The Department consists of both undergraduate students and those who have the opportunity to attend the master’s degree programme. Students who have successfully completed 4-year courses of learning the subject will be awarded a BA (majoring in History) degree.
– More specifically, BA in History prepares you to be an educator, researcher, communicator, or even a business-person. Students are also able to graduate with honors in History.
– The M.A of Arts in Public History provides training in research methods and practical skills needed for careers in archives, museums, historic preservation, and other areas of public history.
VALUE OF HISTORY
– People discover their place in time through stories of their families, communities, and nations. These stories of freedom and equality, injustice and struggle, loss and achievement, and courage, and triumph shape people’s personal values that guide them through life.
RESEARCH FOCUS
– Historians use a variety of methods and sources to study the past, including stone inscriptions, palm-leaf, historical records books, photographs, and letters. History is taught and learnt not only to study the past events, but to do, with the aims to make appropriate harmony of the present ones with the present conditions prevailing in a certain society.
